Repechage

The USA, Poland, Italy and Czech Republic line up in this ‘last chance’ race for qualification to the Semifinal. One boat will be eliminated.

The USA race out of the start and draw out to lead on three-quarters of a length over the Czech crew. Italy trail at 500m and step it up to try to move past the Polish four into a qualification place. The Polish respond and the crews are as good as level at half way. USA still pushing on to almost a length ahead of the Czechs. Coming into the last 500m the Italians have moved through the Poish boat and have almost half a length. There are only three lengths between all crews into 250m  and Italy threaten the Czech crew, passing in the final 100m. All boats overlapping across the line. It’s USA by half a length to Italy, Czech Republic in third. The Polish crew are eliminated from the event.
