I wasn’t too sure what to expect when I started reading this book but very quickly was captivated.  It is written in such a way that you find yourself sculling book, rowing crew, e book, jim joyfeeling every movement even as he explains it.

As a Pilates instructor flow is an essential component and is something I teach everyday but amazingly have never made the connection with this to my rowing.  It makes so much sense, connecting our minds and body as a whole, living and breathing each flowing movement.

I think a lot of positives can come from teaching these methods from the start to novices, before the whole process becomes mechanical to the point where we forget why we are there and don’t even appreciate the wonderful opportunity we have to see the world from the water.

The book has left me excited and inspired and I can’t wait to get out on the water tonight, despite the pouring British rain!
