Back before TV the cinemas were the main place people saw video news – called “newsreels” they were a great record of history.   British Pathe has put a lot of its archive footage newsreel up online.

We did a search for rowing and sculling.

There’s no delicate way to put this. If you’re a regular Rowperfect reader, you’re just . . . well . . . smarter than most people looking to improve their rowing, sculling, coxing or coaching.

  1. Jack – much appreciate your rapid response. Our readers really liked this post. One reader, Duncan Holland, tells us he wrote to you separately advising the 1914 clip is actually 1918/19 and is the New Zealand “Victory Games” crew practicing in London after WW1. Would be good to get that correctly attributed.
