Sitting in the stands at Dorney and I’m going to try to live blog the racing as it happens.
Womens pair
Heat 1: first race and the conditions are a light cross tail wind. The overhead camera on a wire is doing a great job showing progress of the whole race. The local favourites greata huge cheer from the fans in the stands as they go through the first ining point at 500m gone.
Half way and the US crew stay in touch with GB and the Germans also putting a great showing. Both crews look like they are rating quite low.Roumanians working hard but rowing showt. UK win by three quarters of a lenght over USA with Romania third and going to the repecharge.Progression is first two to the final and it’s clear who the likely candidates are.
Heat 2: Early leaders are Australia and China and at the first timing point they are close behind China in third. Australians looking very strong and have a commanding lead coming up to half way. New Zealand have comprehensively overhauled China to be second. Coming past the first of teh crowds Australia are out alone in front with NZ one and a quarter length behind. But both crews comfortably in control of the race and the progress to the finals.
