Jan slammers had confirmed that the monitor supplied with my new RP3 machine is faulty (it seems that this is not an isolated case). He has offered a refund of €50 euros if I send it back to him. He has also advised that I buy a replacement off Amazon (£68.98 with carriage and 3-5 days delivery).

This does not sound reasonable given that we have had the inconvenience and the goods were not fit for purpose. I assume that my contract is with you as the seller.

I notice that the cost of a monitor is £150 on the website.

Please advise – I have ordered the unit from Amazon in the meantime.

I just charged my new Coxmate GPS and switched it on.
Apparently I am doing 1.8m/s whilst sitting in my chair typing this.
Also when I try to log into the site to download the analysis software, it says my serial number does not exist.
According to the GPS I am at 37m Altitude while the Navigation says I am at -78 metres.
I am not impressed so far.

David – the analysis login problem doesn’t sound right – We will be in touch offline.
But you clearly don’t know about GPS Drift. This is normal and not a fault in the Coxmate product.

Here’s some detail about it from the Garmin website.
Movement or distance gained while not moving

GPS drift is caused by many external factors and consumer grade GPS devices cannot account for these. GPS drift causes the device to appear to be moving on its own. It is most obvious when looking at a track or when zoomed in all the way while at a standstill.

Satellites send their signal through the atmosphere down to earth. The atmosphere distorts this signal, and other environmental factors (such as trees, hills, mountains, buildings, cars, reflective surfaces and more) can further degrade the signal.

In the past, a satellite signal weakened by the environment caused a loss of position. High sensitivity chips were created so that it was no longer a question of if you had a position lock, but how accurate that position lock would be.

Now only the weakest signal prevents the device from locating your general position, but as a result, the decrease in accuracy that is introduced by the environment causes GPS drift. In other words, the device is more sensitive than the environment allows it to be accurate.
