Champion Rowers Statues part 4

The Rower in St Johns, Newfoundland, Canada celebrates an un-named athlete and the local regatta venue by Morgan Macdonald.

“The Rower” is Morgan’s first public monument, a tribute to the historic and annual regatta which has become a civic celebration every August.
What I like about this is that it’s physically accurate but includes a figurative ‘boat’ made from a wave and there’s a trail from where the oar blade inserts into the ground.  I’m guessing this is supposed to be the trace of the puddle – but any rower knows that the oar levers the boat past the point of insertion in the water so you’d never have a trail from the bow to the oar spoon… but hey, it’s art, innit?
