1. Bern Boat Race – Registration Deadline coming up

Are you going to participate at the Bern Boat Race on Saturday October 26th ? Have you registered yet? Hurry up. Latest entry date is October 15th 2019 at Noon. Here is what you need to know:

Why is the a bear in the logo?

The capital of Switzerland is called “Bern”, an old and modified word of “Bären”, which means bear.

What does the Bern Boat Race stand for?

The Race is the succession event of the legendary “Armada Cup”. This year`s event is open for single scullers, doubles and quads. The number of participants is limited. (150 singles, 50 doubles and 50 quads).

When will the «Bern Boat Race» take place?

The Regatta will take place on Saturday, October 26th 2019

Where does it take place?

The Regatta  will take place on the Lake Wohlen (Wohlensee) in Bern, Switzerland.

Who can participate?

All age categories from U17 to masters can compete.

Is there a starting ceremony?

It is a Headrace! The rowers will start with a 20 or 30 seconds distance. The start order will be determined after registration has been closed.

What does the course look like?

The Bern Boat Race is a 10,4 kilometer  long time trial on the Lake Wohlen, The start and finish are both located at the Wohlen bridge (Wohleibrücke) and the course contains a U-turn.

What will it cost?

The registration fees per category are CHF 70 for a single, CHF 80 for a double and CHF 90 for a quad.

What is the registration deadline?

The registration deadline is October 15th at Noon. The entries for the Bern Boat Race must be made with entry software on www.bernboatrace.ch. If passwords and login information is not available, please contact Michael Kiel (kiel@bluewin.ch).

Can I rent a boat?

Yes. The BBR-organizers work with a local boat dealer. Boat rental fees are 50 CHF / seat plus 5 CHF / insurance fee.  Boat rental is based on “first come – first serve”. Please contact the BBR-organizers when doing the Bern Boat Race Registration

Where is the best spot for me as a spectator?

Spectators can cheer on crews all along the course from riverside paths. Always first row!
