If you are a coach who has never coxed, this ebook is essential to build your skills.
Chelsea Dommert has learned from coaches whose personal experince was rowing not coxing and this inspired her to write this 68 page e-book.
As she writes in the Introduction, "This book is not a coxing manual". It is a carefully written three-stage programme for teaching skills to coxswains that will enable them to steer, communicate what you ask to the crew and race (both head racing and side-by-side).
Each of the three stages are clearly explained with a test at the end so you can see if your coxswain is ready to move to the next stage. These tests include being able to steer over buoys, corec reactions to boat wash/wake and fixing technical issues like balance and ratio.
If you invest in your coaching skills, this is the best book you can get to help you coach your coxswain and teach her exactly what you need her to do for the crew.
What's new in this edition:
Some of the phrasing has been revised to improve clarity. Also, the revised edition includes additional tips for coxswains on steering down a lane. Finally, all of the instructions for sprint race starts have been revised in accordance with new USRowing starting procedures. The new starting procedures, introduced in 2012, are much more similar to the starting procedures used outside the United States.
