I started rowing as a sweep oarsman, and sculling has always been the poor cousin to my sweep rowing both in my ability, and the time I am able to put into it when within a squad system that focuses on sweep. On receiving an inheritance, I invested in a sculling boat and have since then been starting to try and get out whenever I can in a single to improve my sculling and try to drag it up to the standard of my sweep rowing. I originally bought the blades I had used as a junior the odd time I sculled, C2 Smoothies with a vortex edge. However, after chatting with my coach and annoyance at the pitch slipping on my C2s, I tried a set of Dreher Apex sculls. The Apex blades looked great, and the first thing that hit me about them was the sharpness of the bottom of the blade - it was only milimetres wide as opposed to the C2 blade which is the best part of 1 centimetre wide. I found that this allowed the Apex sculls to enter the water in a much smoother way. Once locked on, the connection with the Drehers is excellent, and I feel locked on right up until the finish, unlike the C2s where I felt the scull lock through the middle of the stroke, but be very washy at the finish. Since using Dreher sculls, I have seen an improvement in both my steady state paddling and my race rate sculling. Although it is the person on the end of the blade that moves the boat, the Drehers have offered me the most natural feel I have ever had sculling, and have certainly facilitated my recent improvement in sculling. I'm very happy with my pair of Apex sculls, and would heartily recommend them to anyone else.Rating: TEXT_OF_5_STARS [TEXT_OF_5_STARS]

I have had the pleasure to have been able to have used these great blades. These blades are v.light compared to others at my boat club and I also find that they push more water past the boat because of my faster times from using them. Rebecca and Grant are both very friendly and helpful and it has been a delight to use these blades. I would recommend them to anyone! TomRating: TEXT_OF_5_STARS [TEXT_OF_5_STARS]

I recently bought a pair of Dreher Apex sculls and have been nothing but impressed by the quick delivery (48 hours wow! even to be delivered the day before Christmas) and friendly, helpful, and accommodating service. I have rowed with them numerous times since and love them. They are really well balanced and the wrap grips are fab. (they don't get slippery when wet). I investigated many other makes of blades and Drehers were slightly cheaper and the most comfortable to row with.Rating: TEXT_OF_5_STARS [TEXT_OF_5_STARS]
