Company History

Rowperfect UK Limited was founded in 1991 by Harry Mahon the legendary NZ rowing coach and Tony Brook World Gold medallist to import Rowperfect rowing simulators into the UK for the first time in 1998.  Harry was coaching the GB 8 in preparation for the Sydney Olympic Games at the time and he was quickly convinced that the Rowperfect would help him achieve the best possible results from the crew.  They were not the strongest athletes in the GB squad as the 4- and 2- were ahead on the selection rankings.  But he thought that if they rowed with technical excellence and a common power application and force curves, he could overcome their strength shortcomings and create a fast crew of skilled boat-movers.  They won a Gold Medal.

In 2001 Grant Craies joined Tony and started to use Rowperfect with his crews at Tideway Scullers School .  Later, Rebecca Caroe also joined and Tony left the business.  Since then the range of products has expanded; books and DVDs, rating watches, Coxmate coxing equipment and  have been added to the product range and the Rowperfect website is gaining a reputation as a place for coaches to find educational resources and new ideas to help them build their own skills.

In 2009 Nic Bourne joined the company to run the day to day as UK Manager.  He is both a fine boat and traditional boat rower.  Nic was one of the founders of Teign Scullers Club and he coaches there as well as around the South West region as an adaptive rowing coach.
