The Coxmate range of electronic assistants for coxswains brings modern electronics technology to coxing amplification and speed measurement. The Coxmate designs are the result of a lengthy and intensive study into the needs of rowing, and how existing systems can be improved.

Under the WEEE regulations, Rowperfect UK will recycle your old electronic Coxmate products and ensure they are not sent to landfill.   You must return your old Coxmate to us within 28 days of buying a new one and we can only exchange on a like-for-like basis.  This means an HC is not exchangable for an SRT+.

Coxless Boats Non-Audio Units

The Coxmate HC is our latest innovation and is designed specifically for coxless boats.

Lighter and compact, it mounts into your boat on a wiring loom that includes a neat on/off switch as well as magnetic pick-ups for rating and the speed impeller.

Coxed Boats Audio Amplifier Units

We provide amplification systems, speed measurement and wiring looms with speakers for coxed boats.

There are three levels of coxing amplification system:

• AA - audio only model
• SRT+ - audio + stroke rate
• SX - audio + stroke rate + GPS speed sensor + PC link option

Coxmate SX

Coxmate SX speed measurement with GPS

The Coxmate SX is the most sophisticated of all the rowing amplifier units on the market.  It is an upgrade from the previous SCT units. The SX has an inbuilt GPS, and displays rating, stroke count, time, speed, distance and cover (distance travelled per stroke).  It can also have an optional impeller fitted, which can be calibrated using the GPS.

The Coxmate Software is available as an optional extra, or included at a reduced price if purchased as the SX-Kit+PC version.  This enables detailed rowing data to be transferred to a PC and analysed.  Up to 60 hours of rowing can be recorded. Unit has realtime clock and each record is time and date stamped.  The SX has extra large batteries to accommodate the power consumption of the GPS. Additional improvements in run time are achieved using a digital amplifier.

An ‘over the side’ impeller option is available. This places impeller in water unaffected by turbulence of boat, and provided a noise free signal for stroke profile analysis – seeing how boat speed changes through stroke.  It provides a powerful analysis tool which can quickly be fitted and removed.

Using a GPS sensor, only enables land speed to be recorded. Stroke profile data is not possible because of the frequency of data upload (approx 0.8 secs). Using the speed sensor and impeller, the software records a graph of each stroke taken. More detail on speed measurement options.

Coxmate SRT+

The Coxmate SRT+ contains an audio amplifier, stroke rate indicator and stopwatch. It is designed for durability and ease of use.

It has a tough ABS waterproof box and is supplied with an adjustable bracket either a plug-in to the wiring loom or using a unique magnetic mounting system.* This simplifies fitting the unit into the boat and enables position and angle adjustment.  It does away with the problems caused by frequent operation of the 4 pin rubber connectors (broken wires, loose connections); it takes less than a second to fit the SRT+ into the boat. An alternative rubber-connection option is also available and includes the articulated bracket and an NK cup-adapter.  The microphone connects to the SRT+ with a robust waterproof jack-type plug. A radio input jack is provided as standard for coaches to speak direct to the crew with a radio handset.

This coxing amplifier uses the latest digital technology and battery life is around 60% longer lasting up to 15 hours – that’s five outings! The battery automatically powers down if the speakers are disconnected. Volume settings are automatically remembered between outings.

Coxmate AA

The Coxmate AA is an audio-only model. It has been designed to be durable and low cost.

All Coxmate products are fully compatible with commonly used rowing boat wiring systems.

The AA has a large capacity rechargeable battery storage with a sophisticated battery management system to increase battery life. The unit can be left permanently connected to the charger, as it turns the charger off once batteries are full. This prevents degradation of the batteries. There is also a low level battery warning and charge full indicator.

Compared to competing products, the Coxmate AA has increased audio power which reduces distortion, increases efficiency and battery operating time. Volume settings are remembered between outings and the microphone connection to the control box is permanent – removing problems associated with unreliable connection. Buy Coxmate AA now .

PC Analysis Software

The PC software package enables data collected by the SX and HC to be uploaded to a PC and analysed. The package includes software CD, an adaptor for connecting to SX or HC (specify) with a D9 serial connector and a serial-USB converter.

Wiring Loom and Speakers

Coxmate Wiring Loom accommodates up to 4 speakers in an eight – providing even sound volume throughout the boat, and enabling the cox to communicate with his crew but not the competing crew alongside! This allows four speakers for an eight and two speakers for a four. The wiring is modular enabling each speaker section to be separately tested and maintained.

They are more robust than other designs, the speakers are smaller and mount flush with the boat (no bracket to bend) and the sound quality is higher.  Boat Classes & loom options

The wiring loom design includes:

• All connectors are fitted with metal clamps for strain relief (protects against damage during connection/disconnection).
• The wiring is modular and so if one speaker fails, it is easy to replace that section alone.
• Speakers are slim, waterproof and mounted directly onto the boat without brackets thus maintaining direction of sound.
• All cables are double insulated to provide additional mechanical protection.
• All copper wires are tinned to reduce corrosion.
• All connectors are fitted with visual markers to assist in aligning of two halves during connection – “join the yellow dots”.
• Main connector is fitted with a retentive cap. This is used to protect connector when it is disconnected from the control unit.

All poplular cox amplification systems can be used with Coxmate wiring looms. The fitments to join the wires are the same and they are fully compatible.

Having concern for maintaining the watertight sealed compartments in modern rowing boats, Coxmate offers sealing glands so that you can retro-fit Coxmate Wiring Looms to your existing boat fleet. The Coxmate Glands are supplied in two parts, Split cable gland insert and retainer. This enables you to unseal the gland at a later date if you need to get into the sealed compartment or replace part of the modular harness. No expoxy permanent glue required. This is a special order. Please contact Rowperfect .

A split cable gland for sealing cables through bulkheads. This has two parts: a retainer which is epoxied into bulkhead (a hole between 27 and 32mm diameter is required.) The cables can then be fitted into split gland – without removing connectors and the gland pushed into retainer. The gland will take up to 2x 5mm, 1×4.5mm, 1x4mm, 1×3.6mm and 1×2.5mm diameter cables. The gland can be fitted without the retainer – it requires a 25mm hole.
